TeleVisit.org connects older adults to each other through their participation in interactive group activities from the convenience and comfort of home. TeleVisit grew out of the PBC seniors visitation ministry when we realized there was a great need to visit seniors who were unable to come to church but there were not enough volunteers to visit them on a regular basis. Thus, we developed technology that would enable the seniors to join group activities.
Using regular phones or a simple talking picture frame (specially configured Android tablet that requires no learning), users can tune in and join the group, participating in a variety of live programs designed to entertain, engage, inspire and educate — thus establishing community. Absolutely no technical skill is necessary to access programs. TeleVisit also developed the Summer Senior Club program for churches to provide 20 sessions of devotions and fun activities over the phone to their members. We partnered with Biola University to train psychology and nursing students to host virtual group sessions.
