From Series: "Signs of Life: The Gospel of John"

The Gospel of John is all about life. Jesus is presented as the source of life. His mission is to give life. The book was written so that people could have that life through faith. Throughout this gospel, different signs are described as demonstrations of the identity of Christ. Some are miraculous. Some are mundane. All point to the amazing offer of life through faith in Jesus Christ. Like a skillful musician, John weaves images throughout the book that highlight the life Jesus offers. They come into focus for a moment and fade into the background only to reappear later in different ways. They are everyday ideas pointing to supernatural life that comes through faith. Word. Birth. Water. Bread. Light. Tears. Vine. Rise. Breakfast. As we explore the Gospel of John, these symbols will be our guides. They will lead us to Christ who gives us life.
