One Necessary Thing; The Book of Judges

---- ---- ##Today's Sermon: #Place of Tears ##Judges 1:1-2:5 #One Necessary Thing The Book of Judges features some of the most compelling stories in the Bible. Mostly, they are stories of decline. But stories of decline are stories of need, and stories of need are what we need. We need to connect with our need - our desperate need for God. The Book of Judges helps us do that.

Judges features some of the most compelling stories in the canon. Mostly, they are stories of decline. But stories of decline are stories of need, and stories of need are what we need. We need to know our need—our desperate need for God, our desperate need for Christ. The Book of Judges helps us do that. Jesus extolled Mary, who was seated at his feet in order to learn from him, for preferring the one necessary thing (Luke 10:42). The book of Judges illustrates the need for a king. The king we need is Christ. We don’t need many things; we need one thing: Christ.
