There are many views on what inspiration is, just how much the Bible is the inspired Word of God, and what amount is authoritative for today. Is inspiration viewed through a changing cultural grid? Is it extremely literal? Are its comments on science, history, slavery, Israel, and gender be taken with a timeless literalness, or a morphing trajectory that focuses on a truth beyond the literalness? Or maybe somewhere in between. This class will deal with the presuppositions and hermeneutical approaches that are present today.
