HIGH SCHOOL MINISTRY
LEARN MORE
Who is Jedidiah?
Our High School ministry is called Jedidiah. The name is taken from the story of David and Bathsheba in 2 Samuel. King David, the man said to be after God’s own heart, allows himself to be overcome with lust and sleeps with Bathsheba, another man’s wife. She becomes pregnant with his child and David has her husband killed to hide his sin. The baby dies shortly after birth and after a period of mourning, David lays with Bathsheba again. She becomes pregnant, gives birth to a son, and names him Solomon. God, however, gives him a special name as a message of forgiveness and redemption to David. God calls him Jedidiah, which means loved by God. As High School ministry at PBC we want High School students to know that whatever they may have done, said, thought, or been through, they are loved by God.
WHAT WE DO

Sunday Gathering
We gather from 10:45-12pm in the HS Room for worship, teaching, and fellowship. The aim is to get students into corporate worship and teach them God’s word. Additionally, we encourage students to attend a main service and have quarterly “Church Wide” services where students both attend and participate in the service.

Wednesday Nights
MentorshipWe gather from 7-8:30pm in the HS room for small groups. The aim is to get students to open and study God’s word together, as well as to provide a space for students to build accountability and mentorship relationships with each other and our adult volunteers.

Events
We plan periodic events that are outwardly focused (easy events to invite friends to). These events also serve the purpose of creating space for students to build relationships with each other and our adult volunteers. Events range from small events planned by individual small groups, to larger events planned for the entire ministry.

Missions
We seek to facilitate students engaging in missions both locally and abroad, however, the biggest value we hope our students to grasp is that their entire lives serve as a platform to live out and share the gospel. We take students to Honduras annually and plan a handful of local service projects throughout the year.

Jr/Sr Programming
We strive to set students up for success in their faith beyond high school and have special programming for Jr and Sr students. The program is called Summit and aims at giving practical tools for life and faith post high school.

Camps & Retreats
We attend camp twice a year, once in the summer and once in the winter. We also have 2 additional overnight trips that change from year to year. The point of these camps and retreats is to get students out of their normal routine and to create space for spiritual impact.

Mentorship
As a ministry we encourage cross-generational relationships and value adults mentoring students. This happens during official Jedidiah meeting times, but also outside of organized meetings (with adherence to our youth policies).
