Fall Retreat

We’re returning to Mission Springs Conference Center in Scotts Valley from September 22-24, 2023, for our annual all-church fall retreat!

The theme for the retreat is Redeeming Joy.
Joy is one of the most frequently mentioned markers in the lives of the people of God and, simultaneously, one of the hardest to understand. Weak cultural substitutes, increasing awareness of mental and emotional unhealth, and brokenness have made joy seem like Ahab’s white whale. And yet the Scriptures describe, assume, and command joy in the life of those who follow Jesus. So the question remains how do we capture true, biblical joy?

Our speaker
We’re excited to announce Mike Dsane will be our guest speaker this year. Mike is the lead pastor at King’s Harbor Church in Torrance, CA. Mike is no stranger to PBC. He preached this summer on God’s people playing a part in revealing God’s rule and reign to an unbelieving world. You’ll find his sermon here.

About the retreat
This is a retreat for the whole PBC family—kids, youth, adults, single, and married. There will be worship, teaching, sharing, fun activities, relaxation, swimming, hiking, baptism, and more. There will be age-appropriate teaching, games, and activities for children. Childcare and classes will be provided for children up to fourth grade during the teaching sessions.

Saturday afternoon will be free time with a variety of games and activities. Possibilities include a zip line, a ropes course, hiking trails, swimming, and more. Located nearby are both the redwoods and the beach. Also, groups are welcome to gather together for further discussion on the topics of the previous sessions.

Baptism
We will be holding baptisms at the fall retreat on Saturday morning, Sept. 23. If you are interested in being baptized, please fill out an Interest Form, and a pastor will contact you.
