  • While most days can find me working in the PBC office, I head over to the coast every chance I get. I have been known to take a day off now & then when I am especially feeling the need for extended time with God and my weekends are too busy. More than any other place, I like to be at the beach. There is something in both the beauty and the power of the ocean that brings me great comfort and joy. It speaks to me of the beauty and power of my Creator. There I feel rejuvenated, inspired, loved, cared for, and safe. The pieces of my life that may seem out of control are somehow put back into perspective. I remember that my Lord is Lord over all I see and One who brings order out of chaos, peace out of turmoil, life out of death. There I feel like the sound of the waves drowns out the busyness in my head and even if just for a short while I can get lost in the arms of God. Sometimes I journal, sometimes I just sit & drink in God's presence, sometimes I read poetry. No matter what I do, it all seems richer at the beach. On the drive back over the hill, feeling refreshed, I am ready yet again to be back at work, back at life, grateful for the respite and for how close I live to the ocean! Of course, it won't be long until I'm looking for the window of opportunity to make the journey once again.
