I grew up in Southern California, in a town called San Marino. My parents took me and my younger brother to church when I was a kid and I didn't like it. In Junior High, I rebelled and refused to go anymore. But, in High School I developed a passion for reading the Bible and learning about Jesus. I started hanging out at Young Life and decided He was the truth and started a relationship with Him. I went to college at U.C. Berkeley and began really digging into the Bible, mostly due to the influence of Earl Palmer at First Presbyterian in Berkeley. I was always extremely shy with girls but while at Berkeley I prayed that God would give me "a fun girl to just hang out with" and one month later I had met Janice and we were boyfriend/girlfriend. We were married right after Janice graduated and have lived in Mountain View ever since. Janice has been the primary means by which God has been transforming me into Jesus' image. We have one daughter named Elsie. I develop commercial software professionally. I like programing computers, creating short movies, surfing, backpacking, snow camping, reading long history books, and adventurous dining.

We came to PBC in 1992. I spent a few years just consuming and not really growing. then, I started to help out in children's ministry. I ended up in a discipleship group with Doug Goins and Craig Duncan, which led to teaching classes and Latin American prison ministry trips.

    Biblical Passage for Consideration

"Be still and know that I am God" Psalm 46:10a I side with Aristotle over Plato in that everything (and thus everyone) is distinctively and fascinatingly unique. God has created it all and actively orchestrates life's inter-plays in profound, exotic, sublime and/or humorous ways. God has created the most exhilarating reality TV series for us to participate in, if we'd only spend less time trying to produce our own self-centered one.

    Ministry Passion

My impression of the PBC body is that we're waking up from a nap. I'm a big fan of naps. You know how you're a bit groggy and hazy when you wake up from a nap; then, something like a rich smell wakes you up the rest of the way and you feel energized and alive? I think we need some smelling salts.

I'm a big fan of rich expositional teaching and times of body life. I spend more and more time with the Junior High kids and find them very refreshing.

God has done a lot to grow me up through many people over the last 15 years here; for which I'm very thankful.
