Let's Be Good Neighbors
Jesus called it the second most important commandment: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Mark 12:31).
How do we, practically speaking, love our neighbor? Let’s take the following steps together:
Step 1: How well do you know your neighbors?
Take a few minutes to see how well you know your neighbors to give you an idea of where to start. Pray for God to give you ideas, opportunities, and motivation to love your neighbors.
Step 2: Learn one new name
In this next season, we'll try to learn the name of one neighbor whose name we don't already know. You can be really honest and say that you release you don't know your neighbors well and that it's time to try. Ask God to give you a reason to begin a conversation, an opportunity to meet someone new, or the courage to be totally straightforward.
Step 3: Invite one neighbor
Spend this season getting to know a neighbor better. Invite them over for coffee, dinner, a char, or go out and do something together. Continue to get to know neighbors you've already begun a relationship with, or meet someone new. Ask God to give you an opportunity to meet with neighbors, or for time and intentionality to plan a get together.
Step 4: Host an event (More info: March 5)
For this season, coordinate some gathering with a few neighbors such as a dinner party, a BBQ or a block party.
