Summerville

Calendar-3

Summerville 2013 will be fantastic!

Click all the links across the top to see the fun activities we have planned for this summer! Most activities are for children entering 1st grade through 5th grade, but make sure to look around. There are lots of fun family gatherings as well!

Don't forget to REGISTER. Many activities are first come, first served.

Mission and Guiding Scripture:

"People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them. But Jesus called the children to him and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.'" -Luke 18:15-16

At PBC, we love, value, and cherish your children. In fact, we view them as our own. This is not meant to take the primary discipling role away from you (the parent). Rather it is intended to give you confidence in knowing that amidst all the fun things we do this summer: day camps, day trips, afternoon and night events, etc.; our goal is to not hinder the children in coming to Jesus. We desire to encourage and love them as Jesus Christ invites them into relationship with Him.

We do not want to just verbally teach our children the gospel; we commit to live it out in a tangible and real way so that our children may see that faith in Jesus affects our entire lives. Our goal as leaders for Summerville 2013 is to teach, live, and serve in the way that Jesus did so that your children may come to know our LORD and Savior better. Through games, crafts, songs, lessons, camps, day trips, barbeques, and other activities, we desire to touch our children's lives with the warm love of Jesus Christ.

"I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it." -Luke 18:17

Summerville 2013's mission statement doesn't just stop with the kids. As leaders, our journey and walk with Jesus Christ never ends. The race is never finished. As we grow older, Christ tells us to grow younger; in a mature way, of course.

Therefore, our mission for the leaders, volunteers, and parents for Summerville 2013 is that we may grow younger and younger in Christ and accept faith in Him like our children do. While we have so many things to teach them, there are things we have forgotten that they can remind us of.

We do not want our leaders, volunteers, and parents to have hard hearts when dealing with our children. We want them to open up and be willing to allow Christ to mold them through experiencing the acceptance of a child. By the end of the summer, we want leaders, volunteers, and parents to be able to read one of God's promises (i.e. Romans 8:28) and simply say, "Okay, I trust you, God." We desire Jesus to not only change our children' hearts, but change ours as well so that we may better serve and love He who is worthy of all praise: the LORD our God.
