Wednesday Evenings

1.       What’s the position?

Small Group Leader

2.       What are the duties?

A small group leader is in charge of facilitating a discussion on Scripture, biblical principles, or life-issues with a group of 3-8 same-gendered students.  This requires some prep time beforehand.  A small group leader is also responsible for checking in with each of the members of their small group on a regular basis.

3.       What’s unique about the person in this position?

The person who is a small group leader is someone who is well-versed in Scripture, who can facilitate a small group discussion, who is a good role model, and who will strive to be a consistent presence for at least two school years.  A small group leader must be patient and committed to the lives of a few particular students.

4.       What value does this position contribute to the mission of the organization?

Small groups are perhaps the most valuable aspect of the high school ministry.  Students often learn the most about God, make significant life decisions, and develop deep friendships within their small group.  Small groups are a place where they can interact with Scripture and struggle with how it applies to their life, together.  Also, the relationships that are built between small group leaders and their students often are meaningful and long-lasting for both the students and the leaders.

5.       Who is the target audience?

Small groups are all about helping high school students figure out how to live life in light of who God is and who God has made them to be.
