The Seniors Ministry is devoted to the older members of the congregation, some of whom are facing health concerns, loneliness, and the need for practical assistance with transportation and home repairs. The Seniors Ministry also works in conjunction with the Daytime Ambassadors in reaching out to local retirement homes and veterans facilities; bringing people to a special luncheon at PBC five times a year. There is a regular mid-week Bible study (Welcoming Wednesdays).
One of God’s gifts to our church family is the integration of generations. Infants, children, youth, adults, and seniors worship and follow Christ together. We rejoice in friendships and heart connections that transcend stage-of-life differences.
However, in addition to the blessing of generational integration, we recognize the need to care for those who find themselves slowed down because of age. Dimmed eyesight, hearing and memory loss, transportation needs and other realities require attention and assistance. To that end we have created a team that will help all the church respond to these needs. We want to begin with good information. If you would like us to aware of your needs as a “silver saint”, or know someone who might benefit from being included please contact kristine_farber@pbc.org.
We recognize the need to treat each person as an individual, to protect privacy, and to listen well. We trust that the Lord will continue to make us one in the Spirit, concerned for each one.
Are you responsible to care for elderly parents who once cared for you? A growing number of us at PBC find ourselves called to care for parents who no longer can be fully responsible for themselves. We have come to a life stage we don’t feel ready for, are making decisions without confidence that we know what is right; are dealing with a new set of emotions. If this description fits you, plan to join others on March 28 at 10:00 in room A15. Our intention is to begin a prayer and support group as a result of this initial gathering.
