"You shall not commit adultery"

Commandment 7

Scripture References: Exodus 20:14

From Series: "Love God, Love People"

The laws which were given to Moses on stone tablets are building blocks for the two great commandments, the means by which we love God with our whole beings and love our neighbors truly. The Ten Commandments have shaped both Israel and the church in significant ways throughout history. They are a description of God’s priorities for all human beings (like an owner's manual) but also are a set of markers by which those who trust God are distinguished from unbelievers. As law they serve to highlight the impossibility of sinners pleasing God with self-generated righteous behavior – especially when a person’s thoughts and motives are taken into account (Matthew 6:28). For those in whom the Spirit dwells the commandments offer a clear path for living out our gratitude to the One who saved us.
