Jeremiah sends a letter to the exiles in Babylon encouraging them to settle in Babylon and continue living their lives in the midst of exile. This command serves as the foundation of what it means to live as a Christian as we wait for the final redemptive elements of God's work in the world. We are to live "normal" lives as we wait in hope for God to act and release us from the exile of the fallen world.
