Koheleth observes that good people are often at a disadvantage and that justice is frequently mocked. He cannot be sure that human beings are different from beasts. Jesus notes that the natural world (sun and rain) does not distinguish between the righteous and unrighteous. However, he sees that hurtful people create an opportunity for love, not despair. "Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven."
