In 2:11 Peter goes back to language found in the first verse of the letter – sojourners living in a place not their home. He directs the saints to be different, to be respectful, and to be submissive while remaining free. The apostle expects believers to get in trouble as Jesus did. Suffering is made noble when we are “conscious of God” (not just acquiescent), when it for righteousness sake, and most importantly when we remember and love Jesus who suffered for us.
