As part of the service, we filled out cards responding to: "What do you do that reminds you of your dependence on God?" Here are some selected responses:

"Breathe in and out"

"This sermon has made me realize how little I depend on God and how much I do to sustain my life on my own. My response to this is a renewed faith in God's abundance and provision."

"Honestly, I don't do anything. The life that I lead does not consistently depend on God. It's based on God, but it hasn't been dependent on God for... as long as I can remember, I guess ..."

"I sin"

"- Don't always drive in the fast lane.
- Cooperate, rather than compete, at work.
- Try to hold my tongue when my husband goes off the deep end.
- Look in the mirror - I'm a piece of work too. It's good to know I can depend on God to continue working His will in my life"

"Climb trees"

"Meetings with Lambert Dolphin"

"Attempt to parent 2 small boys"

"Commit myself to going to church each Sunday, to love and be loved by God's people and to receive grace from His word and presence."

"By giving those in my family the freedom to look to God to make their decisions rather than do it for them. Letting them learn from their mistakes is so hard, Lord.
I don't plan too far ahead too much because I know God will alter my plans.
I have to let go of the 'me' in my life and replace it with 'thee' in my life."

"Something that stretches me, like volunteering.
Outdoor activities, hiking, photography.
Loving my wife"

"Torah (teaching), prayer, and contemplation of death"

"Go backpacking and see if God supplements my meals with trout."

"Talking with my friends about our issues, especially the one's only God can solve."

"Not much, lately but every once and a while I'll read the bible in bed, at night."

"I remind myself that He is big, I am small! He is God, I am not! I ask myself if my activity will matter 5 years from now. I remind myself and others that I am eternal, therefore I do have time to rest. Chaos can be around me, but in Christ I can find rest. Sabbath rest is not dependent upon a lack of activity or peace, but on my position in Christ."

"Many people at work eat lunch at their desks so they can keep working. I leave the office, go on a walk, read scripture I have typed up, listen to my iPod w/Christian music, and pray. I return to work rested and ready to pour His love out like rivers of living water."

"A little while ago a few friends of mine and I started to call each other at 9:15pm in order to stop all daily activities. We have neglected this practice but I would like to pick it up again."

"Take a moment to focus on my Father. Stop whatever I am doing and Really Think and Talk to my Lord. This can be done anytime of day or night. Praising, thanking God for who He is and what He does."

"Playing with our granddaughter. It delights me so much to experience her joy of discovery. It reminds me of how our heavenly father enjoys us also."
