During the fall 2011, we are starting a series called Get Up and Go, studying through the book of Nehemiah. This book starts as the walls of Jerusalem lay in ruins after the exile of the Jews centuries earlier. In response to the situation and because of his privileged position, a man named Nehemiah led the effort to renovate the city of Jerusalem and rebuild its walls.

Nehemiah's efforts were not easy. They were met with opposition. They were met with rebellion. They were met with discouragement. But eventually he prevailed. As we work through this book, we'll find a story of a man who provides a model for leadership. All of us are called to lead - to act - in some area of our lives. This story invites us to consider what that looks like and gives us the courage to get up and go for it.
