Second ServiceOur observance of the Sabbath is a reminder that God has prepared a place for us; a place of ultimate rest which we will enter at the end of time. This passage in Hebrews explains the existence of that rest through a detailed interpretation of Psalm 95. Even though the Promised Land was pictured as God's rest, this Psalm still talks about a future rest; one that is reserved for us by living in the presence of God. Faith allows us to enjoy this rest and the Sabbath practices that we currently observe point us forward to give us hope for the ultimate rest in the future.
